Over the last few decades, Europe has experienced an increase in the frequency and severity of climate-related natural hazards such as droughts, wildfires, heatwaves, and heavy rainfall. The risk that these trends will become even more frequent in the near future, further intensified by socio-economic and environmental changes, is significant and cannot be overlooked.
Through the implementation of this project, local rural communities in the partner countries will benefit from international cooperation aimed at developing solutions to minimise the impact of wildfires. Through a series of practical activities, the project seeks to achieve several objectives, including the creation of a cooperation network capable of responding effectively to local forest fires. The project will also focus on training highly qualified personnel to strengthen local preparedness and response capacities.
Raising awareness among rural communities about the effects of climate change and the need to adapt to wildfire risks is a key step towards building safer and more resilient communities.
