Food Resilience and Sustainable Eating in Urban Communities

Around 6–8% of all human-generated greenhouse gas emissions could be avoided if we stopped wasting food. Moreover, in today’s context, with Europe facing economic recession and resource-related challenges, adopting sustainable eating habits has become essential for citizens.

The FURBUS project aims to promote behavioural change and empower urban communities to manage their families’ eating habits through the sharing of good practices and the adaptation of digital self-learning and educational tools.

Main objectives

The project’s objectives will be achieved through the development of a digital map featuring 60 international good practices, the creation of an online learning course consisting of 50 micro-learning modules, and the implementation of six adult training activities across the partner countries.

FURBUS seeks to engage people of different ages from urban communities in its educational activities, addressing the priority of “creating and promoting learning opportunities for all citizens and generations.”

Urban communities need to become aware that food production, consumption, and waste are among the main drivers of climate change, biodiversity loss, and the overexploitation of natural resources.

Consequently, encouraging behavioural change within urban communities will contribute to achieving the “Environment and Fight Against Climate Change” priority of the 2030 Agenda.
